Catalans Dragons fought back late on to condemn Hull Kingston Rovers to a third loss in four Super League games.

Hosts Hull KR led 12-2 and then 16-12, but Lewis Tierney's try and Sam Tomkins' conversion settled the match.

Weller Hauraki, Joel Tomkins and Craig Hall had earlier all crossed for Rovers, with Brayden Wiliame and Lucas Albert's scores keeping Dragons in it.

And Tierney went over six minutes from time as Catalans avoided a third loss from their three away games this term.

In a relatively low-key first half, Hall and Sam Tomkins traded kicks to see the sides level at 2-2 at the break.

But the second half was far more lively, as the hosts chased a win that would have seen them move up to fifth the table.

Rovers earlier saw a Joel Tomkins try disallowed for a knock-on, as the Tomkins brothers faced each other for the first time as professionals.

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara: "Sam [Tomkins] is a big-game player. The wind was very tricky out there and swirling around. So, it was a clutch kick from him.

"They were extremely tough conditions for us as well going 12-2 down but we managed to fight our way back.

"We started the second half slowly and missed a couple of tackles. But the spirit is there which we have shown in glimpses this season.

"To throw it away with an intercept and then find another way to win shows what it meant to the group."

Hull KR head coach Tim Sheens: "We really struggled for numbers. We didn't have enough big men and then we lost Mose (Masoe) and (Mitch) Garbutt in the last 10 minutes which hurt us.

"We lost the ruck partly because of that, we were carrying a couple of busted guys, we ran out of numbers and ran out of steam.

"We were just hanging on. The tries were the same, it was just a couple of kicks and the last one from the sidelines by Tomkins was the one that buried us. Otherwise we might have survived."

Hull KR: Hall, Keinhorst, McGuire, Masoe, Tomkins, Hauraki, Vaivai, Addy, Lawler, Linnett, Drinkwater, Oakes, Dagger.

Replacements: Shaw, Garbutt, Atkin, Rooks.

Catalans: Gigot, Wiliame, Tierney, Langi, Smith, Casty, Moa, Edwards, Bird, Whitley, Albert, Yaha, Tomkins.

Replacements: Bousquet, Julien, Goudemand, Baitieri.
