George Mitchell: Cornwall's homegrown player signs new one-year contract

George Mitchell switched from rugby union to join Cornwall's rugby league side

Cornwall utility player George Mitchell has signed a new one-year contract.

The homegrown 25-year-old joined the club last season after impressing in an open trial in November 2022.

He went on to score tries in Cornwall's final two home games of the season against Oldham and Rochdale Hornets.

"George finished the season really well and he gives us options across the board both in the backs and forwards," head coach Mike Abbott said of Mitchell to the club website., external

"His tries that he scored against Oldham and Rochdale were special moments for both George personally and for the club because of his proud Cornish roots.

"I am sure he will continue to progress in a Cornwall shirt and we can't wait to see what he can do in 2024."
