    Hull KR 0-0 Wigan

Wigan have themselves a penalty to relieve some pressure deep in their half.

Hull KR''s Jared Waerea-Hargreaves went in with a shoulder charge on Bevan French, and referee Liam Moore didn't have much of a decision to make with that contact.

Rovers have got to be smarter, they've got to be cleaner with what they're doing.

They've offered two chances to Wigan now in their own end.

How Wigan Warriors don't lead right now is hard to comprehend.

A high kick is palmed down for Liam Farrell to gather, and he then links up with Bevan French.

The Wigan captain gets the return pass, but makes a mess of his attempted catch and drops the ball with the tryline beckoning.

A huge early let off for Hull KR, that.

This is a really important part of the game for both sides and how they transition from their attack to their defence on the back of their kicking game.

Some more early neves for Hull KR, it seems.

This time it's Tom Davies who loses his grip of the ball about 30m from the Robins' own tryline.

He seems pretty annoyed as he tries to eplain to referee Liam Moore that the ball was ripped from his grasp.

The argument is ignored and Wigan are on the attack again.

    Hull KR 0-0 Wigan

Harry Smith stands up a dangerous high ball for Wigan at the end of their first set.

Hull KR's Joe Burgess, however, keeps his cool to defuse the kick as a number of Warriors got after it.

    Hull KR 0-0 Wigan

It's back-to-back sets for Hull KR at the start of this Grand Final, but an error sees them hand the ball over to Wigan on the halfway line.

It was James Batchelor who knocked on as he tried to play the ball.

Wigan with a big early chance to attack now.

Hope both teams throw the ball around tonight! Great weather, two great teams. Time to let the ball do the talking.

    Matt, Yorkshire

Very much hope I'm wrong but it's very hard to match Wigan's experience in this one. The Grand Final is a big moment and we've seen great sides fall to bits because of the perceived pressure. Would be great to see a new name on that trophy.

    Hull KR 0-0 Wigan

Hull KR's retiring duo of Michael McIlorum and Jared Warea-Hargreaves both get early touches on the ball in that first set.

The set finished with kick that was charged down by Bevan French.

The bounce is kind for the Robins and they recover the ball for another set of six.

Smoke still hangs in the air from those pre-match pyrotechnics as Wigan lauch the ball into the air from kick-off.

The best two teams in Super League going at it, they're both in top form and it could go either way.

Rovers' defence is great but they cannot defend for this win, they've got to score points to win this game.

I think this game is completely 50-50.

Wigan have got the experience and Hull KR have got the consistency of the season in front of them so it's even stevens.

This as even as it gets, I can't remember a final this hard to call. I can't call a winner.

The most recent items of silverware in Hull KR's trophy cabinet when Willie Peters arrived as head coach in the winter of 2022 were the one-off Challenge Plate from a rare visit to Wembley in 1997, and a handful of subsequent second-tier honours.

It had been nearly 40 years since the Robins genuinely sat at the top of the rugby league tree, as champions in 1984-85.

Since, they had narrowly avoided liquidation, overcome administration, dipped in and out of the top flight and finished bottom of the table as recently as 2020.

And now they are on the brink of a trophy treble.

A very special moment before we get going in this Super League Grand Final.

Respective Wigan and Hull KR legends Sir Billy Boston MBE and John Millington have brought out the ball before kick-off.

Sir Billy, who scored an astonishing 478 tries in 488 appearances and is one of the most iconic figures rugby league has ever seen, was awarded his honour earlier this year and became the sport's first knight in its 130-year history.

Millington made 418 Hull KR appearances across the late 1970s and early 1980s during their golden era and is an iconic figure in East Hull.

We talk about Hull Kingston Rovers doing things differently, when they came out, and it was no doubt it was purpose built, they actually did a lap of honour just to feed off the energy of their fans - and my word they are an energised group of spectators.

Whereas Wigan just went to their warm-up positions to start them like 'we've done this before'.

Really interesting to see the two strategies to approaching this game and time will tell which one is the right one but my word what an atmosphere we've got here.
