    Wigan 14-6 Leigh

For the first time tonight, Leigh appear to be running out out of puff.

Lachlan Lam put up a high kick, but it's brought down by Wigan without any real challenge.

A few Leigh bodies were caught offside from the kick, but it's just about the first thing that the Leopards haven't thrown absolutely everything at.

I'm glad Leigh have come out firing and they have started throwing it around a little.

They they can't just go toe to toe with Wigan when they are eight points down, they have to come up with something different if they want to win this game.

    Wigan 14-6 Leigh

We are fast approaching the final 10 minutes at The Brick Community Stadium, and I'm at a loss at how no points have been scored in this half yet!

Leigh have thrown everything at Wigan, but they have stubbornly held firm.

Leigh keep coming, and Owen Trout is has his eyes on the tryline as he tries to motor away into space.

Amazingly, Jai Field comes up with a try-saving tackle.

The danger isn't over just yet, and the ball goes from right to left.

In the end, Leigh run out of options as a grubber kick skips out of play.

A few offloads and that’s what Leigh need is a bit of the old fashioned second phase rugby league. That is what is going to trouble this Wigan defence a bit of the unpredictable and unknown.

There is a roar of an anticipation around the ground as Leigh come at Wigan from the goalline drop-out.

The Leopards get to within a metre of the line, but are hauled down.

In the end a kick from Gareth O'Brien is collected by Abbas Miski.

From that neat bit of footwork from Bailey Hodgson, Leigh go the entire length of the field and manage to force a goalline drop-out.

Jake Wardle had to think quick to slap the ball dead from a dangerous grubber kick.

Bailey Hodgson has been peppered by all sorts of kicks from Wigan tonight.

The latest bounces and sits up nicely for him. He goes on to step pass one tackler and gets Leigh on the front foot from deep in their own half.

For the second time in just a few minutes, Wigan's attack stops with Junior Nsemba.

This time he losses his grip on the ball as Gareth O'Brien smothers him in a tackle.

Another chance missed by Wigan, it seems.

But again, Leigh are putting in the big hits when they need to when pinned back.

Bevan French is almost better in unstructured play. When he gets the ball there there would not be a player in the game who would want that position.

But there is always an air of anticipation around him and he comes up with a play that finds space and Kruise Leeming.

    Can Leigh hold strong?

Wigan have Leigh backpedalling all of a sudden, and it's all because of Bevan French.

The stand-off chips a kick over Leigh's defence and into space, he then collects and shifts it inside for Kruise Leeming.

The ball is moved on to Junior Nsemba, who is pushed into touch as he attempts to try get over in the corner.

Wigan may have handed Leigh possession on a plate there, but their defence remans composed and keep the Leopards out as they come crashing forward.

Wigan have made complete mess of things as they set themselves for a kick on the last tackle.

A pass from Bevan French fails to find his man and Harry Smith has to run the ball down as it bounces back towards Wigan's own tryline.

The Leopards are chasing in numbers, forcing Smith to rush his kick.

It goes high and out on the full.

It now hands the ball back to Leigh deep in Wigan's half.

Wigan are trying to test Leigh down the right edge.

The ball is worked out to Adam Keighran, and just as he tries to dummy and step he is grabbed by the Leopards defence and dragged out of the field of play.

There were five Leopards on his by the end.

A searching long kick from Wigan at the end of the first set has Leigh back on their own 10m.

Tesi Niu shrugs off an attempted tackle or two before the Warriors' defence take him down.

There was so much of that sheer will in everything that Leigh did in the first half. I guess it will be more of the same!

Leigh have kicked things off in the second half.

Can they battle their way back into this game and reach a first Super League Grand Final?

Edwin Ipape made a slight mistake to give away a penalty which led to eight points but Wigan have been so close to being broken as well by Ipape on numerous occasions.

I'm sure at some point Leigh will throw Brad Dwyer on as well and at that stage, if they are still in touching distance that will be a really dangerous time for Wigan.
