Leigh Leopards have happy recent memories of lifting the Challenge Cup trophy in 2023, while Warrington only have last season’s Wembley defeat by Wigan to reflect on.

Still, as far as cup pedigree goes it is the Wire who have got their hands on this trophy more often.

They won the cup four times between 2009 and 2019 and have had it in their possession a total of nine times.

Leigh’s golden-point extra-time win against Hull KR in the 2023 final was their first Challenge Cup victory in 52 years, and third overall.

If Leigh go on to get the job done, they will have a rematch with Hull KR on 7 June.

    The try is given!

It's taken Leigh less than a minute to take the lead.

Edwin Ipape was the one to charge the kick from Marc Sneyd down. The PNG international then collected the loose ball, and tore away to cross in the corner before he could be caught.

Gareth O'Brien misses the extras, so it's a four-point game.

While Warrington have somewhat struggled for results in recent weeks, Leigh Leopards have been in fine fettle.

An unblemished April, which started with them advancing in the cup, was followed up with a thrilling Magic Weekend victory against Catalans Dragons last time out.

Ben McNamara led the comeback with a personal 14-point haul against the French team coach by his father Steve.

    Warrington v Leigh (16:15 BST)

Warrington come into this tie with a rough run of form, having lost three of their past four matches.

St Helens are the only side Wolves have beaten since beating that exact same side in the cup quarter finals at the start of April.

Leigh are among the sides to have gotten the better of Sam Burgess’ men in the last month, having held on for an 18-14 home victory just three weeks ago.

  9. How Leigh got here...published at 16:08 British Summer Time 11 May

It took second-half tries from Fanitesi Niu and Bailey Hodgson to help Leigh Leopards through to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup after a comeback victory at Wakefield Trinity in April.

Leigh had romped through the early rounds before that with big wins against Workington Town and Batley Bulldogs.
