What do York have left in response?

As mentioned before kick-off, their squad has been dealing with a sickness bug during the build-up to this semi-final.

The carrot of a potential trip to Wembley will ensure every player wrings out every drop of energy that they have left.

Wow. The pressure that Saints have put on, we saw in the first half when they have good ball they can break the York defence, and they have done exactly the same there.

The error came from York and has ended up with just desserts for St Helens.

  7. try

TRY: St Helens 12-0 York Valkyriepublished at 42 mins

    Darcy Stott, Faye Gaskin goal

Darcy Stott takes St Helens a bit closer to Wembley.

She runs a great line and strides perfectly onto a short Jodie Cunningham pass to dive over from close range.

Faye Gaskin kicks the extra two from in front of the posts and Matty Smith's side leads 12-0.

In attack I think Saints have been lacking a little bit, but in defence you can't fault them. They have kept York out numerous times.

But we have waited for something from St Helens in attack to show us what they can do.

  12. 'York fighting for it'published at 12:01 British Summer Time 18 May

    HT: St Helens 6-0 York

    Danika Priim
Former Leeds and England forward on BBC TV

Full credit to York, if anybody doubted them [with the players they have out] look at that first half, look at how much they want to fight for it.

HT: St Helens 6-0 York Valkyrie

Sandwiched in between those two scoring moments for St Helens was a long spell of York pressure, but Valkyrie have not yet been able to find a way through a wall of red and white shirts.

And when Saints created their best chance, they were clinical with it.

It's only a one-score game so this semi-final could still go either way, for sure.

Leah Burke's try and a Faye Gaskin penalty separate the sides at half-time in Doncaster.

    St Helens 6-0 York Valkyrie

Katie Mottershead makes a great break from dummy half to get Saints within 10 metres of York's line but their momentum is halted by a forward pass.

York's set of six in reply ends with a high kick which is claimed by try-scorer Leah Burke, who is then on the wrong end of a high tackle.

One last chance for points before the interval.

    St Helens 6-0 York Valkyrie

Rhiannion Marshall sends up a high kick to the corner on the last tackle of York's latest set, but Phoebe Hook is solid underneath the high ball to end any threat to Saints' try line for now.

Four minutes left of a draining first half.

  17. Postpublished at 34 mins

    St Helens 6-0 York Valkyrie

A rare error from Emily Rudge as the Saints and England second-rower spills a pass on halfway and gifts possession back to York, who would love to reply to that Leah Burke try before half-time.

They won't do it quite yet - Sade Rihari's grubber kick is fumbled out of play behind her posts by Saints full-back Beri Salihi - but they'll receive the ball back from a goal-line drop-out.

    St Helens 6-0 York

    Danika Priim
Former Leeds and England forward on BBC TV

That just shows you how good St Helens' defence has been.

The first time they get to put on some real pressure in this half they manage to break York's defence.

There is nothing more tiring than defending your own line and they have managed to push it out.

    Leah Burke

    And there's the opening try!

Leah Burke is a try-scoring machine on that left wing for St Helens and England, and she won't pass up the opportunity of an overlap near the left touchline.

Faye Gaskin can't quite add the extras from the tee, but Saints have some breathing space and some reward for their excellent first-half defensive efforts.

  20. Postpublished at 29 mins

    St Helens 2-0 York Valkyrie

A bit of miscommunication among the York backline, a Zoe Harris kick drifts out into touch and Saints have a 40-20.

    Big opportunity, this.

Saints spread the ball to the left touchline and York's Carrie Roberts gives away a penalty for a high shot on winger Leah Burke, so Saints get a fresh set of six within five metres of the line.
