Jersey sign former Welsh international Ben Evans

Prop Ben Evans won 27 Wales caps

Former Welsh international Ben Evans has been signed as a player-coach by Jersey Rugby Club.

The 36-year old prop played 27 times for Wales between 1998 and 2004 and his clubs include Cardiff, Sale Sharks and Calvisano.

Head coach Ben Harvey says he will play a big part in the squad, including helping younger players make the step-up to National One.

Jersey start their National One season away to Fylde on 27 August.

The first-team squad have returned from a four-day training camp in France and are due to play a friendly against Loughborough Students on Saturday.
