Redruth director of rugby Dave Penberthy was critical of his side's attitude after their 27-25 loss at Worthing in National Two South.

"I've just said to the players that we're not too disappointed with the result because I think it's the kick up the backside we needed," Penberthy told BBC Radio Cornwall.

Tries from Tom Duncan and Owen Hambly's helped the Reds to an early 13-3 lead.

Worthing scored two tries to lead 21-16 at half time and never looked back.

Matt Shepherd kicked a penalty to bring the Reds within two points of Worthing late on, but the hosts held on.

"We've started the season in a very slap-happy way, we trundled to a win last week and didn't get out of second gear today," he added.
