Redruth came back from a 17-10 first-half deficit to beat Taunton 35-34 at the Rec on Saturday.

Taunton led through a Sean Fox try, Jason Luff's penalties and seven points from Tony Yapp after Chris Fuca went over early for the Reds.

Fox's second try extended the visitors' lead before tries from Tom Duncan, Fuca and Jamie Semmens put Redruth 35-27 up.

Sonny Haines scored a try in the last minute as Taunton, who claimed two bonus points, closed the gap.

Taunton travelled to Cornwall the day after an horrific crash occurred on the M5 near their ground. and a minute's silence was observed before kick-off.

The win sees Redruth move up to fifth in National Two South.

"Today was a result of hard work," two-try Fuca told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Last week we let ourselves down badly and today we thought we'd come out and show our fans what we could do."

Redruth's director of rugby, Dave Penberthy, was happy with the way his side came back in the second half.

"We showed great character in the last half-an-hour, the subs who came on made a real impact," he said.

"The last half an hour I thought we played well and I thought we deserved the five points."
