Sale Sharks to step up search for director of rugby

Sale Sharks chief executive Steve Diamond will step up his search for a new director of rugby by holding interviews for the position this week.
"I'm interviewing on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday," Diamond told BBC Radio Manchester. "I'm at Manchester Airport more than the stewardesses I think.
"There's been no contracts signed, contrary to popular belief. We'll see who's lucky enough to get the job."
Diamond has been in charge of the first team since Tony Hanks' departure.

Hanks left Sale on 24 March following a heavy defeat to Saracens.
Reports in Scotland, external on Sunday claim that Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath, a former Sale and Scotland scrum-half, is one of the front-runners for the position.
Diamond guided the Sharks to a gritty 16-9 win against Bath at Edgeley Park on Friday.
"I think the forward pack were outstanding," he said. "We're delighted with the win because we've worked hard at our defence and it showed in the last 15 minutes that they've been listening to what we've been doing in training.
"At this end of the season, if we can scrape into Europe, then they're the four points that might help us get there."
