Prop Brett Sturgess and fly-half Gareth Steenson have signed new two-year contracts with Exeter Chiefs.

Sturgess, 31, is in his third season with the club, having joined them from Northampton in 2010, and has since played 49 Premiership games.

Steenson, 27, arrived in the same year and has made 42 league appearances for the Chiefs.

"I am really pleased to have Brett and Gareth on board," said Exeter head coach Rob Baxter.

"These guys have been key members of the side right through from the Championship."

Their decision to stay with the club comes after full-back Luke Arscott re-signed until 2015.

"We are starting to get through the bones of a team, and what we have got together for next year is already looking pretty solid," added Baxter.

"What we have to do now is pin down the last few guys we want to from the current squad, then make sure the guys we want to bring in are there for us and that we work hard on getting them in.

"Right now, though, I am pretty comfortable with where we are."
