Jonny Wilkinson signs new one-year deal with Toulon

Former England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson has signed a new one-year deal with French side Toulon.

The 33-year-old was considering retirement because of injury problems before undergoing successful groin surgery in January.

Wilkinson, who kicked the winning goal, external in the 2003 World Cup final, joined Toulon from Newcastle in 2009., external

He has helped Toulon into this season's Heineken Cup semi-finals, where they will play Saracens at Twickenham.

Wilkinson retired from international rugby in 2011 after winning 91 caps.

Although he says he would relish the chance of being part of the British and Irish Lions tour this summer, he admitted recently he does not expect to be picked.
