Ireland and Munster fly-half Ronan O'Gara will take up a coaching role with Racing Metro next season after announcing his retirement on Saturday.

The 36-year-old has been capped 128 times by Ireland and was selected for three British and Irish Lions tours.

O'Gara made 240 appearances for Munster, winning two Heineken Cups and scoring 2,625 points.

He will be kicking coach at Paris-based Racing Metro, and will work with Irish fly-half Jonathan Sexton.

Leinster fly-half Sexton, 27, will move to the French outfit at the end of this season.

Sexton was O'Gara's main rival for the Irish number 10 jersey in recent years.

L'Equipe reports that O'Gara will also be given a role within Racing's youth coaching set-up.

O'Gara, who made his Munster debut in August 1997, is the Irish team's most decorated player.

He has also won Irish Interprovincial, Celtic League, Celtic Cup, and Magners League titles.

O'Gara is the record points scorer in the Heineken Cup competition with 1,365.
