Ben Morgan: England fringe players have to take their chance

England's Ben Morgan feels Sunday's match against the Barbarians gives fringe players a chance to impress.

Stuart Lancaster has called up 12 uncapped men for the Twickenham game.

"Stuart's always talked about the World Cup. We're never going to win that with a squad of 15," the Gloucester number eight told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"People have rightly been called up who've been on the fringes, it's a perfect opportunity for them to get a fair chance of representing England."

The British and Irish Lions selecting 10 England players for their tour of Australia has given Lancaster the opportunity to examine other options available to him, including four players aged 21 or under.

One of those youngsters, Billy Vunipola, will be vying for the number eight spot in the starting XV against Morgan.

Morgan already has experience being a part of England squads, having represented his country on 10 occasions.

However, an ankle injury kept the 24-year-old out of much of this year's Six Nations, and he feels he has to prove himself on the international stage once more.

"You've just got to play your own game, but show you are eager to learn and take things on," Morgan added.

"You're always here to learn, you're not going to know it all so as long as you take everything in, you can use that to better your ability.

"On a personal level, up until the injury I had started to build up a bit of momentum.

"I've got to just show I can continue from where I left off before I got injured."
