Plymouth Albion have signed forward Dan Williams after his spell training with the Championship club.

The 24-year-old, formerly of London Welsh, has been training with Albion and playing for Newton Abbot.

"Dan has experience of Championship rugby and he has an edge about him," said Albion head coach James Shanahan.

"He is versatile, can play in the second row and the back row. He is a good line-out forward and has been training well with us,"

Williams was part of the Gloucester academy early in his career and was loaned to out to Moseley, playing in the 2009 EDF National Trophy Final for the Midlands club.

He had his spell at London Welsh before joining US Colomier, who play in second division of the French pro 12, before being released at the end of last season.

Williams is likely to go straight into the Albion squad for this weekend's game against London Welsh.
