Phil Thiel: Saracens sign USA international hooker

Saracens have signed United States international Phil Thiel.

The 29-year-old hooker will provide short-term cover for Schalk Brits, who is on international duty with South Africa at the Rugby Championship.

Thiel, who has won 22 caps for the Eagles, becomes the fifth American in the Sarries squad.

"An ever-increasing number of Americans can see there is something special happening at Saracens, and I am delighted to be part of it," he said.

The final round of Rugby Championship fixtures takes place on Saturday, 4 October.
