Cardiff Blues prop Adam Jones wants Wales place back

Adam Jones says he is determined to win back his Wales place after being left out of the 31-30 second Test defeat in South Africa last June.

The British and Irish Lions tight-head, 33, was subbed in the first half of the first Test by Wales coach Warren Gatland and assistant Robin McBryde.

"I want to prove them both wrong but I understand why they did it," he said.

"I'm working hard to do this, obviously Samson Lee is the number one now but I'd like my jersey back."

Jones has said he is aiming to play for Wales in the the 2015 World Cup.

"I was a bit disappointed when Gats and Muckers subbed me, but I'd like to be a coach one day and if that is going to be the decision that's best for the team then that's best for the team," Jones added.

Jones left Ospreys to join Cardiff Blues in August after more than a decade with the west Wales region and faces his former side in a Pro12 derby on Sunday at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.

The prop has won 95 Wales caps and five for the Lions and is happy with the way he has started the new season.

"I've worked hard now to get where I need to be, I think I'm in a lot better place than I was going on tour," Jones said.

"It's only a year now until the World Cup and I want to be in the autumn [international series], I want to be in the Six Nations, I want to be in the World Cup."
