Cornish Pirates have not suffered such a heavy loss since the Championship was formed in 2009

Cornish Pirates director of rugby Ian Davies accused his side of looking like "frightened rabbits" as they suffered their worst-ever Championship loss.

Pirates concedes 10 tries as they went down 62-26 at Sixways to Worcester, who extended their winning run to 16 games.

"The first two scores were poor and then it just capitulated from there," Davies told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We looked as tough we were thrown together yesterday for a game today. We were totally disjointed."

Pirates trailed 43-7 at half-time before Kieran Goss, Laurence May and Kieran Hallett went over in the second half to earn the consolation of a bonus point.

Cornish Pirates are back in Championship action at London next Friday night (16 January, 19:45 GMT).

Worcester's next game is the following day at Moseley (17 January, 15:00 GMT).

Winger Tom Biggs ran in his first hat-trick for the Warriors, whose back division were responsible for eight of their 10 tries.

Fellow wing Ben Howard, centres Andy Symons and Max Stelling, full-back Chris Pennell and scrum-half Jonny Arr all crossed the whitewash, along with flanker Darren O'Shea and replacement forward Gus Creevy.

"The first half was a little bit of a car crash really," said Davies. "It was a good thing that Worcester got their bonus point so early on as it broke the game up a little bit and allowed us to express ourselves.

"Second half, I thought we dominated for large parts, could have got a lot of other scores, but it's easy to take your foot off the gas when you're 50 points up.

"They have a lot of Premiership and international experience. Their squad depth is vast, we're not. It's well written that we're a developing squad and the guys will have learnt a lot, hopefully."
