Jade Te Rure scored an early try for Edinburgh

League leaders Ospreys fell to defeat in Edinburgh as the home side ran in three tries.

Jade Te Rure missed two first-half penalties but the fly-half made amends with a try to give Edinburgh a 10-9 half-time lead.

The second half was a stalemate until tries from Tom Brown and Grayson Hart stretched the scoreline.

Dan Evans' late try for Ospreys could not save the league leaders from defeat in the Scottish capital.

The visitors had an early let off when Te Rure missed a penalty, and that allowed Sam Davies to give Ospreys an early advantage with a sweet left-footed kick between the posts.

However patient play from Edinburgh's forwards brought them the first try of the game, Te Rure crossing after starting and ending a textbook attacking move. His converted penalty moved the initiative back to the hosts.

Ospreys should have retaken the lead within minutes but Davies made the wrong decision with Edinburgh stretched, passing an awkward ball to Tom Grabham when he had better options on the inside, and the ball was knocked-on inches from the line.

Edinburgh were defending well but Ospreys' fluid attack was proving a handful and Davies slotted two penalties to give them a 7-9 lead.

Te Rure passed up another penalty in front of the posts when he dragged it to the left, but he was given a quick chance to make amends with a kick that made it 10-9 at half-time.

The second period was scoreless until a brilliant piece of attacking play opened up the lead for Edinburgh.

The home side put some pace on the ball and Brown was set free on the left to score, Heathcote converting.

There was hope for Ospreys with a quarter of an hour to go when Damien Hoyland was sin binned for lifting his opponent off the ground.

However they could not make the extra man count, and when they themselves fell a man down Grayson Hart scored a late try seconds after hearing he had been named man of the match over the tannoy.

The visitors kept fighting and Evans ended a sweeping move with a try right on full-time.
