Ospreys centre Ashley Beck has fractured a small bone in his ankle.
Beck, 24, who won the last of his seven Welsh caps against Tonga in November 2013, sustained the injury in the 24-16 defeat away to Edinburgh.
It is not known how long Beck will be out for, but team-mate and full-back Ross Jones, who has also fractured his ankle, will miss the rest of the season.
Jones suffered the injury whilst on duty for Wales Sevens.
"Ross was flown back from New Zealand for an operation where he had the ankle plated back together," said the region's medical performance manager, Chris Towers.
"He won't play again this season but it is too early for any kind of accurate prediction of when he will be able to play again."
Towers told the region's website: , external"In Ashley's case, he fractured a small bone in his ankle and we are in the process of consulting specialists to establish the appropriate course of treatment, with timelines depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigations."
