Landman cited for elbow offence

Newport Gwent Dragons captain Rynard Landman has lost his appeal against a six-week ban for elbowing Connacht's Jack Carty in the head.

The South African lock was shown a red card for the incident in his side's 30-25 loss in the Pro12 at Rodney Parade on 22 February.

An independent Pro12 disciplinary panel had reduced the ban from nine weeks due to Landman's "unblemished record".

Landman is suspended until midnight on Sunday, 19 April.

Following the incident Landman tweeted: "I am ashamed of my decision today! I let myself, my club and most of all my team down! This is not what I stand for!"
