Italy captain Sergio Parisse has lost his fitness battle and will miss Saturday's Six Nations match with Wales in Rome.

Stade Francais star Parisse suffered foot ligament damage in his side's 29-0 defeat by France on Sunday.

Tight-head prop Martin Castrogiovanni returns and Mauro Bergamasco comes into the back row in a team showing four changes from the one beaten by France.

Fly-half Kelly Haimona returns and Michele Rizzo comes in at loose-head.

Lorenzo Cittadini drops to the bench to make way for Castrogiovanni, and Leicester flanker Robert Barbieri returns among the replacements as Marco Barbini drops out.

Wales need a big win over Italy to put pressure on Ireland, who play Scotland, and England who face France in the race for the title.

All three teams have won three matches, but Ireland and England have far superior points differences.
