Cornish Pirates have agreed new contracts with young forwards Matt Bolwell and Marcus Garratt.

Back-rower Bolwell, 19, has played 12 times in the Championship for the Pirates over the past two years, and has had a spell on dual-registration at National Two South side Chinnor.

Garratt, a 20-year-old lock, has played five times for the Pirates this season.

He joined last summer but has been sidelined since suffering an arm injury against Rotherham in November.

Garratt also scored a try for Bath in the LV= Cup against London Welsh on 1 November after being loaned to the Premiership club for the match.

"Both lads have progressed well this season," said Pirates boss Ian Davies.

"We are very pleased to secure the two young ambitious players. Hopefully over the next few weeks others will follow suit."

The club has not revealed how long the duo's new contracts are.
