Cornish Pirates backs Matt Evans and Alex Dancer have signed new contracts with the Championship club.

The pair have committed to the Pirates until at least the summer of 2016.

Canada international Evans, 27, has scored 26 tries in 64 appearances since joining after the 2011 World Cup, but has played just 14 times in the last two seasons because of injury problems.

Dancer, 25, joined the Pirates from Hartpury College in April 2013 and has played 20 times this season.

They are the first members of the first-team squad to commit themselves to the Pirates for the 2015-16 season.

"It is great news that these two guys have re-signed," said director of rugby Ian Davies.

"Matt is a leader on and off the field for us while Alex has flourished this season as he has gained more game time."
