Jersey have announced a friendly against Scarlets as part of their preparations for next season.

The Welsh region, who play in the Pro 12, will come to the island on 15 August to take on Harvey Biljon's side.

Scarlets finished sixth this season to qualify for the European Challenge Cup, while Jersey were seventh in the Championship, their best ever placing.

"Having the Scarlets on the island is a real coup for Jersey," chairman Bill Dempsey told the club website., external

"I'm sure island supporters will relish the chance to see our new-look squad mixing it with top-flight opponents."

The Scarlets squad includes a number of Wales internationals, including Scott Williams, Ken Owens and Jake Ball, plus other capped players such as Scotland's John Barclay and Fijian Michael Tagicakibau.

National One side Blackheath, the oldest club in England and one of Biljon's former clubs, will also come to St Peter for a pre-season match on 22 August 22.

The south-east London side's visit is also expected to include a game between the two clubs' ladies teams.

Jersey are likely to have another friendly on 8 August, although their opponents are yet to be confirmed.
