Redruth's Steve Larkins says he predicted late win at Canterbury

Redruth have played 21 times in the league and have games in hand on most of their rivals

Redruth boss Steve Larkins says he always believed they would win their National Two South match at Canterbury.

The Cornish side trailed before a last-minute penalty try and David Mankee's conversion saw them snatch four points.

"Even with a few minutes to go I was pretty confident and the players looked confident that we were going to sneak it," Larkins told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Before the set of scrums we all said 'this is going to be a penalty try and a 7-5 win', and that's what happened."

The victory was Redruth's seventh away from home this season and leaves them fifth in the table, six points behind the team above them.

Their next three games all come at home against Dorking, Taunton and Old Albanians.

"It was a tough game from all aspects, very stop-start, and we just couldn't get into that rhythm," added Larkins.

"We said afterwards it doesn't matter when you take the lead as long as at the final whistle you're leading, and that's kind of what happened."
