Cornish Pirates: Canada captain Aaron Carpenter released by Championship club

Aaron Carpenter played in all four of Canada's games at the 2015 World Cup

Canada captain Aaron Carpenter is one of 10 players released by Championship side Cornish Pirates.

The 33-year-old hooker, capped 71 times by his country, leaves the Pirates after three seasons as they look to reduce the size of their squad.

Lock Laurie McGlone is retiring and moving back to his native New Zealand.

Kieran Goss, Kieran Hallett, Craig Holland, Rheon James, Tom Riley, Joe Atkinson, Will Graulich and Adam Jamieson are also leaving.

Outgoing director of rugby Ian Davies said: "It's always difficult when players have to move on, but that is the nature of professional rugby.

"We wish each and every one every success in the future unless, of course, they are playing against the Pirates."

The club have 25 players on their books for next term, and will announce dual-registered signings during the close season.
