Jersey Reds are going into the Championship season stronger than ever, says head coach Harvey Biljon.

The islanders beat Premiership side Worcester 23-17 on Saturday to make it three wins from three pre-season games.

Scotland full-back Jack Cuthbert, one of a number of high-profile Reds additions over the summer, landed two penalties to help Jersey to victory.

"We can go into the start of the season with confidence," Biljon told BBC Radio Jersey.

"What we have is competition for every position - there is no first choice player and third choice player, they are all first choice players vying for positions."

"As a squad, genuinely I think it has to be stronger than previously."

Jersey finished sixth in England's second-tier competition last season, their highest finish.

Biljon said pre-season victories over Worcester, Ampthill and Coventry have helped put Jersey into the "best possible position" before their opening Championship match against Richmond on 3 September.

"Not too many people will look at pre-season results and take too much notice," Biljon added.

"Are we proud of that performance? Yes."
