Fly-half Joey Carbery produced a sensational full debut for Leinster as his two tries helped overcome Treviso in the Pro12 opener at the RDS.
The 20-year-old burst through three tackles for a third-minute try before running from his own 10-metre line to score again on 27 minutes.
Auckland-born Carbery's only previous outing was as a replacement in March.
A Marco Fuser try cut Leinster's lead to 15-5 by the break but replacement James Tracy's score made the game safe.
Treviso, after a pre-season which included wins over Leicester and Grenoble, competed well but their prospects were hindered by the early departure of injured captain Alessandro Zanni and a poor goal-kicking performance by Tommaso Allan.
Fly-half Allan missed a penalty from in front of posts shortly after Carbery has burrowed his way over the line for Leinster's early try.
Carbery then showed stunning pace to run in his second try after his own pick-up on Leinster's 10-metre line.
The Ireland Under-20 player was man of the match when helping Clontarf win last season's All-Ireland League and on the evidence of Friday's game, has a big future in the Leinster shirt.
A third successful Fergus McFadden kick extended Leinster's lead to 15-0 on 33 minutes but the home side lost their way during the remainder of the contest as the visitors enjoyed plenty of possession.
Treviso pressure yielded Fuser's try on 37 minutes only for Allan to miss the straightforward conversion.
Allan did eventually land a kick to cut Leinster's lead to 15-8 in the 51st minute but after repelling Treviso pressure, the home side sealed their win as replacement prop Tracy finished off a driving maul in the 73rd minute.
The bonus point did not come and in truth, Leinster would not have deserved it after a rather disjointed display.
