European Cup: Kiss says Ulster owe fans win over Exeter

Full-back Charles Piutau has missed Ulster's last two matches

Les Kiss says Ulster owe their fans a winning performance when they attempt to resurrect their European Cup campaign at home to Exeter on Saturday.

Ulster lost their opening match 28-13 away to Bordeaux-Begles last weekend after leading for most of the match.

"We've got to deliver something for the fans because we disappointed them last week," said Director of Rugby Kiss.

"I expect Exeter to throw the kitchen sink at us, but it is important we respond."

Exeter are also without a point in Pool Five after the first round of matches , having been conceded five tries in a 35-8 defeat at Sandy Park on Sunday.

Kiss hopes Ulster will not regret failing to pick up a bonus point in their fruitless trip to France.

"A point here and there is important. We know that from last season," he added.

"The point we lost at the weekend, I hope we don't rue that later in the competition.

The players are hurting and realise where they let themselves down."

Ulster expect to have full-back Charles Piutau available after missing the last two matches because of concussion, and hope scrum-half Ruan Pienaar will also be fit after sustaining a jarred knee in the Bordeaux defeat.

"I am eager to get out there with the team. Hopefully all goes well with some tests I need to pass," said 24-year-old New Zealander Piutau who scored two tries for Wasps in the European quarter-finals against Exeter last season.

"Exeter have a lot of threats throughout the park, but hopefully we can stop them ."
