Danny Wilson: Cardiff Blues boss criticises side as winless run continues

Cardiff Blues boss Danny Wilson has criticised his side after their winless run continued with a 22-35 Pro12 defeat by Ulster on Saturday.

The Welsh region struggled and have now lost their past four games in all competitions.

"Plain and simple it was not a performance that is acceptable or good enough from us at home," Wilson said.

"That certainly isn't like us. There's one place to put it right and that's to work hard and be tough on each other."

Blues welcomed back Alex Cuthbert and Gethin Jenkins from Wales duty for the visit of Ulster but Wilson says they still need to integrate back into the side.

"We started the season extremely well. Since they left, we've hit a rough patch with just the one win in Treviso," Wilson added.

"Now we've got to gel quickly as a group and work hard to put some of the things in recent performances right."

Fan favourite Nicky Robinson made his return to Cardiff Blues in the defeat with his first appearance for the side since 2009 and kicked two conversions late on.

Wilson added: "It's great to see him back on the pitch. Obviously we're all bright enough to realise it's going to take a bit of time to get Nicky up to fitness but he showed his class with the ball.

"It's just sharpening him back up to the level that we know. That will come through on the training ground. He's only been in the building a week but he certainly hasn't forgotten how to attack the line and play with width and tempo."
