British & Irish Cup: Jersey Reds 23-19 London Scottish

Former Ulster winger Ross Adair returned from injury to score both of Jersey's tries

Jersey moved to the top of their British & Irish Cup group with their second win over London Scottish in the space of a week.

Ross Adair went over to put the Reds in front midway through the first half.

Scottish were 10-7 ahead at the break though thanks to Jason Harries' score between the posts.

Sam Katz and George Cullen traded penalties in a scrappy second half before Adair's second won it for the hosts.

The game had come just six days after Jersey's 22-13 win in London, and Scottish started brightly to deservedly lead through Cullen's penalty after ten minutes.

It sparked the islanders into life and Adair, back in the side after recovering from an ankle injury, went over in the left corner for his first try of the night.

Jersey failed to add to their score though before the break, even with a man advantage for 10 minutes when hooker George Turner was sent to the sin bin for an infringement at a maul.

With seconds remaining in the half London Scottish regained the lead as Jersey's previously solid-looking defensive line was breached by winger Harries, who burst through from close range to score.

Cullen's penalties twice opened up six-point leads for the visitors, but Katz's kicking at the other end kept the Reds in touch before Adair raced on to a kick to touch down for the winner with 10 minutes to go.

The victory means the Reds climb above both Scottish and Ulster in the Pool One table, but Ulster could go top again on Saturday if they win against Cardiff Blues Premiership Select.
