Cornish Pirates: Rotation policy is over, says coach Alan Paver

Cornish Pirates coach Alan Paver says the club have abandoned their squad rotation policy.

Most players have made starts since the beginning of the season and they are fifth in the Championship and second in their British and Irish Cup pool.

"We're running out of numbers, so we're going to see a similar side now week in week out," Paver told BBC Cornwall.

"The rotation is probably coming to an end, we've seen everyone play, we feel it's given us the development we need."

Injuries are starting to bite at the Penzance-based club, who were dealt a major blow with Canada back Matt Evans forced off with what looked like a serious knee injury at the weekend.

The 28-year-old required painkilling gas after being hurt early in the second half of their 17-16 British and Irish Cup loss to London Irish.

"Fingers crossed it's not too serious, he's so big for us," added Paver.

"You never know, sometimes they look serious and they get an assessment and a couple of weeks later they can be back up and running.

"He's a tough cookie and I'm sure the medical staff are looking after him and I'm sure they're getting him the right care so I'm sure he'll be back on his feet soon."
