England back Jack Nowell's first-half try was his first of the season

Sam Simmonds scored two of five tries as champions Exeter maintained their Premiership stranglehold over Worcester with a comfortable victory.

After converted first-half scores from Simmonds, Jack Nowell and Jonny Hill, Warriors replied straight after the break with prop Biyi Ali's second try in six days making it 24-10.

But Chiefs stretched clear to seal an 11th straight win against Worcester.

Olly Woodburn got the bonus-point try before Simmonds crossed again late on.

Warriors, who lost on the opening weekend of the season at Newcastle, have been done no favours by the fixture list, which threw up last season's Premiership top three Wasps, Exeter and Saracen as their first three home fixtures.

Although they gave an under-strength Wasps a stern test last Sunday, they were comprehensively outplayed by the Chiefs.

And Worcester must hope their own injury list has shortened by the time Saracens visit in a fortnight's time, having now seen Scotland international Tom Heathcote go off early.

After an exchange of penalties between Steenson and Sam Olver, Exeter swept to a 24-3 lead by the break.

Number eight Simmonds' opener, just to the left of the posts, England winger Jack Nowell's try in the right corner and lock Hill's score in the left corner were all converted by Steenson.

The Exeter fly-half went on to complete a 16-point haul when he kicked a second penalty and improved the second-half tries from Woodburn and Simmonds to leave Gary Gold's Warriors still pointless after three games.

Worcester rugby director Gary Gold: "It is very difficult to swallow that result, but that's what happens when you make mistakes against the champions. They make you pay.

"We are making errors that are costing us, like losing line-outs at crucial times or not looking after the ball for sustained enough periods.

"It was a pretty tough defensive shift, as tough as you are going to get anywhere. Credit to the guys for their character.

"It was a very spirited effort. We will continue to stay in the fight. There is a lot of good stuff to work with. It's a tough start, but I keep saying it, we have got a long way to go and we have got some key guys to come back."

Exeter head coach Ali Hepher: "I am chuffed to bits with the attitude we are showing. We are in the right frame of mind to go and attack teams, which is really pleasing and what we wanted.

"We knew everyone would be attacking us as champions, and the pleasing thing is we haven't dipped our attitude. We look hungry for another title.

"We cherished that game of rugby tonight. We put our all into it, took nothing for granted and tried to take as much out of it as we possibly could."
