Zebre won for the first time on Irish soil at the 25th attempt as they overcame Connacht 19-11 in the Pro14 game at the Sportsground on Friday.
It was a notable success for former Connacht coach Michael Bradley, now in charge at the Italian outfit.
Zebre led 7-6 at half-time with the help of a Renato Giammarioli try.
Further scores from Gabriele di Giulio and Andrea di Marchi sealed Connacht's fate as they were repeatedly let down by a malfunctioning lineout.
Kieran Keane's men lost eight of their own throws and Darragh Leader's 72nd-minute try, with Ronaldson missing the conversion, mattered little in the end, despite the visitors ending the game with Maxime Mbanda and Rory Parata in the sin-bin.
Zebre remain bottom of the table despite their fourth win of their Conference A campaign, with Connacht seven points better off in fifth.
Craig Ronaldson's second penalty closed his side's deficit after Zebre number eight Giammarioli had gobbled up an 18th-minute try.
Having been denied an earlier score due to a forward pass, di Giulio touched down in the 46th minute and, with Connacht putting in their worst performance for some time, di Marchi's 64th-minute try from a charge-down sealed the victory.
