Ulster moved to within eight points of third-placed Edinburgh by securing a bonus-point win over Richard Cockerill's side in Pro14 Conference B.
Tries by Darren Cave, Charles Piutau and John Cooney helped the visitors into a 19-13 half-time lead.
Duncan Weir crossed for the hosts in the opening period and kicked the rest of Edinburgh's points.
A penalty try after the break reduced the hosts' deficit but Iain Henderson got Ulster's fourth score late on.
Ulster have three games left to Edinburgh's two as both bid to seal a quarter-final play-off spot and the final automatic Champions Cup berth on offer in their conference.
Weir, who, like fellow starters Sam Hidalgo-Clyne and Phil Burleigh, will leave Edinburgh in the summer, kicked them ahead.
Ulster's strength at the set-piece was illustrated by their first-half tries with a lineout on the right leading to Cave touching down on the left after a clever pass by Piutau in the build-up.
Cooney converted and Weir replied with his second penalty but another lineout, this time on the left, again exposed Edinburgh as Piutau ran in.
Unsuccessful with his second conversion attempt, Cooney added to the visitors' points tally with a try on the right and he converted this time.
However, Weir's deep lying run was timed perfectly to capitalise on Ulster's first mistake at the lineout, the fly-half intercepting Cooney's pass and running from halfway to cross and then convert.
Blair Kinghorn then made a burst for the line, side-stepping opponents in his wake, but the full-back's grubber kick was slightly over-hit to relieve the pressure on the Ulster defence.
Cooney's first penalty early in the second half gave Ulster a bit of breathing space but a penalty try off an Edinburgh scrum took the hosts to within two points, only for Ulster to be awarded another penalty that Cooney kicked well.
A late scrum for Ulster led to Henderson powering over and Cooney added the extras as Edinburgh were denied a losing bonus point.
