Nathan Hughes: England and Wasps flanker's disciplinary outcome delayed

England and Wasps flanker Nathan Hughes must wait to discover if he will be punished for punching Gloucester forward Lewis Ludlow.

A disciplinary hearing on Wednesday was adjourned because of "an issue that arose during the evening".

Meanwhile, Ludlow has been given a four-week ban for stamping on Elliot Daly before the incident with Hughes in Saturday's Premiership encounter.

He contested the charge but was found guilty by a disciplinary panel.

"The player knew there were bodies on the floor and, in counter-rucking, attempted to step over them," panel chair Gareth Graham said.

"By stepping on the opposition player, his actions fell squarely within the definition of a reckless act under the RFU regulations.

"The panel found that this act of foul play passed the red card threshold."

Back-row Hughes is accused of striking Ludlow in the final minute of the match at the Ricoh Arena, and a decision on his charge should be made within the next seven days.

The 27-year-old will be suspended until an outcome is announced and if he is found guilty a ban of six weeks is likely.

That would rule him out of the first three of England's autumn Tests against New Zealand, South Africa and Japan in November and Wasps' Champions Cup matches against Leinster and Bath.

Ludlow, 24, will be free to play again on 6 November.
