Syd Blackmore and Callum Sirker: Cornish Pirates bring in hooker and winger on one-year deals

Cornish Pirates have signed Ampthill's former Wales Under-20s hooker Syd Blackmore and Wasps winger Callum Sirker on one-year deals.
Sirker, 23, played twice for Wasps in the Premiership Cup and had loan spells at Pirates' Championship rivals Nottingham, Richmond and Ampthill.
Sirker has also been part of the England Sevens set-up.
Blackmore, 24, is the son of former Wales prop Steve Blackmore and spent time at Bath's academy as a youngster.
"Syd has been one of the stand-out performers at hooker in the Championship this year and will arrive as someone highly recommended," said Pirates joint-head coach Alan Paver.
"He has had good tutelage at Ampthill, and though a former back rower has had a lot of time in the saddle this past couple of years to gain experience at hooker.
"We are delighted to welcome another solid front rower on board who is young enough to continue his development and therefore further make his mark in the game."
Pirates joint-head coach Gavin Cattle says Sirker, who has recovered from a serious knee injury he suffered while at Ampthill in September 2019, will be a versatile addition to the squad:
"We have a talented back three but the addition of Callum, who is principally a winger but could also play full-back.
"He will add more to the mix and I am looking forward to seeing his future development."
