Wasps scored three tries as they claimed their third Premiership victory in six games this season to leave bottom club Bath still winless.
Vaea Fifita crossed before the break to earn a narrow 13-10 half-time lead, Tom de Glanville crossing for Bath.
Veteran Jimmy Gopperth was stretchered off after a high shot from red-carded Mike Williams before tries from Gabriel Oghre and Tom Willis sent Wasps clear.
Bath were down to 13 men when Semesa Rokoduguni got a late consolation try.
But, despite the return of Bath number eight Josh Bayliss for the final four minutes, having been shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock on, the hosts could not get close enough to the Wasps line to claim a losing bonus point.
In a second half of three cards, Wasps were the first to lose a man when Jeff Toomaga-Allen was sent to the sin-bin. But it was just two minutes later when Williams was sent off for his stiff arm challenge on Gopperth, who, after length on-field treatment had to be taken off with suspected concussion.
Bottom-placed Bath were only 13-10 down when Williams charged into 38-year-old Gopperth - but they fell away to ensure another loss - now the six-times English top flight champions' worst losing run in the Premiership since 2002.
Wasps were ahead on nine minutes when Jacob Umaga's cross kick was collected by wing Josh Bassett, who handed Fifita the scoring pass, before Gopperth converted.
Orlando Bailey put his side on the scoreboard but, after England scrum-half Dan Robson had limped off to be replaced by Will Porter, Gopperth knocked over a penalty.
De Glanville's try, converted by Bailey, levelled the score before Gopperth's second penalty. But Wasps then suffered three blows.
Wales squad flanker Thomas Young had to be replaced at the interval, Toomaga-Allen was sin-binned for dragging down a maul and then came the loss of Gopperth, counter-balanced by Williams' dismissal.
Despite Bath bringing on Danny Cipriani and Jonathan Joseph, Wasps scored next when Oghre raced on to Umaga's kick to score.
After Toomaga-Allen returned from the bin, Fifita added to Wasps' casualty list before the Bayliss yellow card, followed by the visitors' third try from Willis - but Bath had the last word when Rokoduguni collected Joseph's cross-kick to score.
Bath now face a top v bottom meeting with leaders Leicester on Friday night, while Wasps play again next Sunday, at home to Harlequins.
Bath director of rugby Stuart Hooper:
"I didn't see the incident close-up as the feed in our box wasn't working but if a player is injured following an opponent charging into a ruck, then you probably know the result.
"A red card always makes the situation very challenging and it certainly played a huge part in the game as there was a big swing in momentum.
"However, we still weren't accurate enough to capitalise at crucial times. There were some positives in attack. Tom De Glanville was outstanding and despite the loss, one can't fault the fight of the boys.
"We won't have any players back for Leicester and we have picked up two more injuries in Lewis Boyce and Johannes Jonker and obviously we won't have Mike Williams available as he will be banned."
Wasps head coach Lee Blackett:
"It's a tough one. I'm 100 per cent sure that Mike Williams didn't intend to cause any harm to Jimmy Gopperth but he just got it wrong and the red card decision is the correct one in the modern game.
"We should have scored more points in the first half as we had lots of chances in their 22 but failed to take them. We needed to be more urgent.
"Bearing in mind our injury situation, I'm pretty pleased we've won three out of six, although we could have beaten both Exeter and Newcastle.
"We still picked up a number of injuries. Dan Robson had a recurrence of a groin injury which could mean five weeks out. Thomas Young was struggling with a hip injury. We took him off as a precaution. He should be ok to join up with the Welsh squad and obviously Jimmy will have to be assessed."
