More than 3,000 fans saw Cornish rivals Redruth and Camborne play out a "titanic" 19-19 draw at the Rec.

Jack King's try in the third minute of stoppage time and Rhys Brownfield's conversion earned Redruth a share of the points in the National League Two West encounter.

It was the second meeting of the sides this season after Camborne won 36-29 in the reverse fixture in early September.

The two sides are in the same league for the first time in 32 years.

Tommy Phillips and Jamin Hoffman's tries gave the hosts a 12-0 lead but Jordan Nicholls try for Camborne just before the break made it 12-7 at half time.

Jago Sheppard and Ben Priddey went over for the visitors as they moved 19-12 ahead after both sides had seen a man sent to the sin bin.

But King's score at the death ensured honours were shared in an enthralling encounter.

"These players were a credit to the club, that was a titanic battle from the minute it kicked off to the minute it finished," Redruth head coach Richie Kevern told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"That was a proud moment for Cornish rugby, to show two teams going at it in the national leagues is brilliant.

"I felt we had opportunities to take control and win the game, but like any team in this league you can't write them off and Camborne did very well to come back and get in the game."

The draw means Camborne are third in National Two West, eight points off leaders Luctonians, while Redruth are ninth.

"With the crowd of 3,500, maybe more, it was a full-blooded encounter and we knew that," Camborne director of rugby Steve Larkins said of the fixture against his old side.

"Redruth came out firing and got those two early scores, and for us to not fold, it was very easy under the pressure we had, for us to come back into it and get the draw was great.

"We had our chances in the last couple of minutes and I thought we could have sneaked it and definitely we are the most disappointed as I thought we should have won that today."
