Ashton Hewitt has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a "cruel" serious knee injury.
The Dragons wing has undergone surgery after damaging the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in training last week.
The 29-year-old, who became the region's all-time second highest try-scorer last month, is expected to be out for up to nine months.
Head coach Dai Flanagan said: "We're devastated for Ashton who has been a catalyst for our better performances."
He added: "It's cruel that a player who has experienced this injury before now faces another spell out of the game.
"Ashton has been impressive for us this season, getting back to the levels we know he can produce. Everyone at the club wishes him well with his recovery."
Hewitt was injured during training ahead of the New Year's Day match against Scarlets.
It is 10 years since he made his Dragons debut but untimely injuries, particularly in 2019, denied him that elusive Wales cap.
His score against Oyonnax in the Challenge Cup established him as the club's most prolific finisher in Europe, with 14 tries.
That score also put him level with Hallam Amos as the Dragons' second all-time top try-scorer on 36, seven behind Aled Brew.
