Wales full-back Liam Williams will return for a second spell at Saracens following his exit from Japanese side Kubota Spears.

The 33-year-old's departure from Kubota was announced on Monday as he revealed he and his partner were moving closer to home for the arrival of their first child.

Williams was previously at Sarries between 2017 and 2019, winning a Premiership title and European Champions Cup during that time.

"The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me in all honesty," Williams said. , external

"One of the Sarries management contacted my agent to see if I would be interested in finishing the season with them due to injuries within the squad, and it didn't take long to say 'yes'.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my previous time with the club. It was a special time in both my career as well as the club, winning multiple trophies, and the unique culture of the club left a mark with me.

"I can't wait to join the squad, following the birth of my first child, and help them achieve their goals."

Williams has won 92 caps for Wales and is likely to be welcomed back into the fold for the forthcoming Six Nations starting on 31 January.

Williams could also put himself in contention for a third tour with the British and Irish Lions, having played in four Tests across the 2017 and 2021 tours.
