Newcastle Falcons have signed centre Max Clark on a three-month deal.

Previously of Bath and Welsh sides Dragons and Cardiff Blues, Clark had been training with Saracens.

The 29-year-old played for them in the Premiership Rugby Cup last month and most recently for Ampthill in the Championship.

Clark will be available to play in Newcastle's Premiership game at home to former club Bath on Saturday.

He will provide cover for the next three months while first-choice centre Sammy Arnold recovers from a knee injury.

"It's a bit like a shop window for him," said consultant director of rugby Steve Diamond.

"You come, show your wares and hopefully get a contract at the end of it. Let's hope he goes well."
