Cornish Pirates hooker Morgan Nelson has signed a new contract for the 2024-25 season.

The 24-year-old is the third forward to agree new terms with the Championship club this week after Hugh Bokenham and Will Gibson also penned fresh deals.

The former Wales youth international has previously spent time at the academies of Worcester and Gloucester.

Nelson has scored 10 tries for the Pirates so far in the Championship this season.

“The young hooker who arrived to us from university is a completely different player to that man, and I would now consider him a hardened Championship performer who has had a good number of games under his belt," Pirates joint-head coach Alan Paver said.

“To his credit, he has developed into a fine set piece player at scrum and lineout, he possesses natural attributes in the collision, plus he has an ability to carry the ball – and with good evasion skills.

"In short, if you want a set piece, he’s the man who drives that forward."
