Newcastle lock Hawkins signs new deal

Newcastle Falcons lock John Hawkins has signed a new one-year deal.

The 28-year-old joined the Premiership side from Jersey Reds in October 2023 and has made 32 appearances for the club.

Hawkins is the fourth player in as many days to sign a new deal with the Falcons, after Ollie Fletcher, Max Clark and Ollie Leatherbarrow.

"The club gave me a chance two seasons ago which I'll always be grateful for, and hopefully I can keep wearing the jersey and giving it my best," he told the club website.

Meanwhile, fellow lock Finn Baker has also extended his stay at Kingston Park.

The 20-year-old, who has made two first team appearances, has signed a new two-year deal.
