Bristol extend Byrne loan until end of season

Harry Byrne has made six appearances for Bristol Bears since joining the club on loan from Leinster

Bristol Bears have extended Harry Byrne's loan from Leinster until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has made six appearances since joining the club at the turn of the year as injury cover for AJ MacGinty, scoring 36 points.

He initially joined on a three-month loan but that has now been extended until the end of the season, with the Bears second in the league and on course for a home semi-final.

Fly-half Byrne has four international caps for Ireland, playing twice in last year's Six Nations title-winning campaign.

"Harry has been excellent for us on and off the field since arriving on loan and we're pleased to keep hold of a player of his quality and experience for the remainder of the season," director of rugby Pat Lam told the club's website.
