Leicester Tigers earned their first Women's Premiership Rugby win of the season by beating Sale Sharks 34-17.

The visitors scored five of their six tries in the first half to race to a 29-5 lead at the break in the battle of the bottom two sides at the Salford Community Stadium.

It took Charlotte Fray under 60 seconds to score Tigers' first try, but it was Meg Jones who starred in their first win.

Jones pulled off two brilliant solo scores, one in each half, to leave Sharks without a point at the bottom after seven games, while Leicester move on to six points.

On Saturday, Harlequins moved to within three points of leaders Exeter with a 47-26 win over Trailfinders.

Ross Chisholm's side have now won six successive matches, a run stretching back to mid-October.

There were 11 try scorers in the match, with Kayleigh Powell, Connie Powell, Claudia Pena, Lizzie Hanlon, Jade Konkel, Babalwa Latsha and Sarah Parry going over for the hosts.

Lisa Thomson, Grace White, Tyson Beukeboom and Abby Dow replied for Trailfinders, who have now lost three straight matches and sit sixth in the nine-team table.

Elsewhere, Zoe Harrison scored 15 points including a try as Saracens ended a run of two straight defeats with a 32-21 bonus-point win over Loughborough Lightning.

Alysha Corrigan, McKinley Hunt and Fancy Bermudez also went over for Saracens, who are four points behind Harlequins in third.

Bristol Bears beat Gloucester-Hartpury 19-14 in a repeat of last year's Women's Premiership final.

Courtney Keight, Holly Aitchison and Phoebe Murray scored the tries for Bristol, who were beaten 36-24 by Gloucester at Sandy Park in June.
