    Edinburgh 17-5 Lions

Pierre Schoeman - Edinburgh's sole Schoeman, compared to Lions' three - makes good ground over the gain line.

Ross Thompson then gets his head up and drops a delightful kick into space that rolls into touch.

Edinburgh are clearly looking to play for time with Grant Gilchrist still off the park.

An unforced mistake from Gianni Lombard hands the initiative back to Edinburgh.

He doesn't deal with a high kick in these windy conditions and the hosts will have a scrum.

    Francke Horn

    It's been coming.

A strong carry from Lions captain Francke Horn takes him over the line and finally gets the visitors on the board.

The conversion attempt is dragged wide but they will be buoyed by their start to the second period.

    Edinburgh 17-0 Lions

Another penalty for Lions - Sam Skinner pinged for not rolling away.

    Pressure is building.

  5. Sin-bin Grant Gilchrist (Edinburgh)published at 45 mins

    Edinburgh 17-0 Lions

Grant Gilchrist clearly dragged back Lions scrum-half Morne van den Berg and is sent to the sin bin.

Silly from the Scotland international and the visitors kick to the corner.

    Edinburgh 17-0 Lions

Hamish Watson bats down a Lions pass after a searing break from Lions wing Edwill van der Merwe.

The officials have a chat and want a second look at that and a potential off-the-ball tackle from home lock Grant Gilchrist.

Lions are chucking the ball around as they search for a route back into the contest.

A very satisfactory opening 40 from Edinburgh.

They took control from the first whistle and have stayed on top.

Ben Vellacott, Darcy Graham and Wes Goosen have been the bright sparks, but there's plenty of grunt up front from the likes of Magnus Bradbury, Jamie Ritchie and Grant Gilchrist.

An early Edinburgh score in the second half should put this one to bed.

    HT: Edinburgh 17-0 Lions

Edinburgh made eight clean breaks in the first half.

I would guess Darcy Graham and Wes Goosen were responsible for most, if not all of them.

Seriously, how good is Darcy Graham?

He is just electric when he gets his hands on that ball. The type of player to get you off your seat.

  17. converted try

Converted try EDINBURGH 17-0 Lionspublished at 29 mins

    Jamie Ritchie

Darcy Graham is fine to continue and he sets up Edinburgh's third try.

He runs it back from his own 22 after a Lions kick appeared to have gone out of play and been pushed back in by the wind.

The officials wave play on and Graham runs the hosts deep into Lions territory.

They get quick ball from there and a couple of phases later, Jamie Ritchie barges his way to the line.

Ross Thompson has found his range off the tee and adds the extras.

    Worry for Edinburgh.

Darcy Graham is down receiving treatment. It might be his ankle from the looks of it, which is already heavily strapped.

Edinburgh were held up over the line from the penalty that followed Quan Horn's yellow card.

    They will keep coming though.

    Edinburgh 10-0 Lions

    Action aplenty here.

It starts with home prop Javan Sebastian marauding his way over the gain line, before a more familiar face takes over.

Darcy Graham is hauled down just short by Lions full-back Quan Horn, but Horn then plays the ball illegally to slow the ball down and is shown a yellow card.
