It's only the second time Ireland have won in South Africa in their history and against one of the greatest South African teams in history as well.

It's remarkable and the bottle they showed to stay in that game, yes Ireland dominated for periods in the first half but in the second it was looking all South Africa. So to dig that deep so they could even have that drop goal is remarkable.

They should be very proud, they have done the nation proud today.

  5. 'What character from Ireland'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 13 July

Just a second ever win on South African soil for Ireland.

The side have enjoyed plenty of firsts in recent years and, while this wasn't one of them, it'll feel just as sweet for Andy Farrell in his 50th Test in charge.

They came south targeting a series victory but they'll surely take plenty from this past fortnight moving forward.

The head coach spoke about the character of his side to even hang in the fight when on the ropes last week, but what about that second half here?

Having surrendered a ten-point lead and looked for all the world that they were going to be overpowered in that final quarter, they somehow managed to steal a victory at the very death in the most unlikely of fashions.

If only we could have a decider!

Listen, South Africa wanted to win this series and they didn't. They are still the World Champions and the number one team in the world and no one is debating that, but what we do have is a genuine new, modern rivalry because you can't watch enough games like this, they were absolutely amazing the last couple of weeks.

The England and Wales games were great to watch earlier, but that was something else.

It's a shame there are only two Tests in this series.

Can we have an encore please?

  8. 'We were just playing catch-up'published at 18:26 British Summer Time 13 July

    FT: South Africa 24-25 Ireland

South Africa captain Siya Kolisi speaking on Sky Sports: "In the first half the intensity and the physicality they [Ireland] were in charge of that definitely and we were just playing catch-up.

"We weren't as intense as we were last week and they were dominating us and that was the big change from last week."

There was a lot off grudge talk in the build-up to the first Test in Pretoria.

Ultimately, when it came down to it, we were treated to two exceptional sets of 80 minutes.

This has turned into a rivalry for the ages.

Just a reminder that Ireland had a scrum in their own 22 with just 90 seconds to play.

Then Ciaran Frawley really stepped up.

The clearance kick to force the line-out was exceptional, and the resulting drop goal was even better.

That's what you call an impact sub.

  11. 'Ireland are very good at problem solving'published at 18:22 British Summer Time 13 July

    Rory Best

We have talked about it a lot but when you go away from home, especially in South Africa, your eight forwards, every single one of them, have to front up.

They sorted out the scrum issue from the first half in the second half. I think that's what Ireland are very good at doing, they're very good at problem solving. They don't have to wait till the final whistle to look back and see how they could get better, they're very good at doing it on the go.

  12. 'An unbelievable test'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 13 July

    FT: South Africa 24-25 Ireland

Ireland skipper Caelan Doris speaking to Sky Sports: "It's definitely a good feeling finishing a long season with a win like that, right down to the wire and coming out the right side.

"It's been a long season, we knew what an unbelievable test it was coming over here at the end of the season, playing against the double world champions. We knew it would be a massive test, we're definitely happy to finish it on a high."

  16. 'It's incredible'published at 18:13 British Summer Time 13 July

    FT: South Africa 24-25 Ireland

Conor Murray speaking on Sky Sports: "Incredible. Just to come here in the World Champions backyard and we knew it would be tough and it was last week and it was again today.

"South Africa don't lose easy and they find a way. It's so frustrating at times to play against. We believed in ourselves, coming into South Africa's backyard is always going to be a big challenge and I think we can be proud.

"Last week hurt, it was a tough defeat and to turn up this week, we knew we were getting a break at the end of the week and the boys turned up and committed to this week."

  17. 'It's mental'published at 18:13 British Summer Time 13 July

    FT: South Africa 24-25 Ireland

Ireland match winner Ciaran Frawley, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's mental. This place is a fortress and it's so loud. The game was back and forth but the boys dug in deep. We were in our own half and managed to get up, we're delighted."
