    Scotland 31-8 Wales

Wales have been forced to chase the game and Scotland are swarming all over them.

The Scots have been superb this afternoon and they have given themselves a great chance to make the quarter-finals, where it would probably be a meeting with England unless they can upset Canada.

Scotland have been way better in attack and defence.

That was clearly a well-worked penalty move there, straight from the training ground.

Evie Gallagher try, Helen Nelson con

A huge scrum wins a penalty and Scotland tap it, with Evie Gallagher powering over from the second phase.

Great line by the number eight.

Helen Nelson adds the extras and it's surely game over.

Wales haven't scored since the 22nd minute and need three scores in the final quarter.

    Scotland 24-8 Wales

Wales were enjoying some good territory despite being down to 14 but a slightly late hit on kicker Lisa Thomson by Bethan Lewis gives Scotland a big gain and a chance to go for the kill in the 22.

It's their turn to be wasteful and a wonky lineout gives Wales an escape with a minute left of Crabb's sin bin.

    Scotland 24-8 Wales

Great burst through the middle by Wales centre Courtney Keight but there is no support on her shoulder.

Lleucu George puts boot to ball to keep the pressure on Scotland, but the clock isn't Wales' friend.

It will remain a yellow card for Gwen Crabb. There are five minutes left of the sin bin.

Match attendance: 10,054. A record between these two countries.

Plenty of entertainment so far, can Wales give the crowd a grandstand finish?

Scotland’s potency lies in their back-three and it was demonstrated perfectly with that try.

Rhona Lloyd came off her wing and into the line, drew in the defence with some near footwork then timed her pass to Fran McGhie to perfection.

There was still a bit to do, but as we have seen since she arrived in Test rugby, McGhie knows her way to the try line.

That's a tough call, it's one of those where it could go either way.

If there's any head contact it meets the yellow card threshold, which is difficult when you get into tight calls like that.

    Scotland 24-8 Wales

Wales lock Gwen Crabb is shown yellow for a high tackle on Elliann Clarke and that is going to be reviewed in the bunker.

That was in the build-up to the Tuipulotu penalty.

Scotland kick for the corner but Helen Nelson kicks it dead. Should they have just taken the three?

Scotland hunt what could be a killer blow after another clean break but Wales escape thanks Sisilia Tuipulotu getting over the ball in the 22. They weren't shifting her.

Wales need to get down the other end though.

    Scotland 24-8 Wales

Wales bring on their heavy hitters.

Carys Phillips, Maisie Davies, Sisilia Tuipulotu come on to boost the front row. They are formidable at the set-piece but also with ball in hand.

It's hooker Phillips' FOURTH World Cup.

Sean Lynn wouldn't have wanted the scoreboard to be reading 24-8 when bringing them on.

Siwan Lillicrap mentioned the half-time stats and here they are.

    • Possession: Scotland 66% - 34% Wales
    • Carries: Scotland 58 - 28 Wales
    • Metres made: Scotland 229 - 114 Wales
    • Post-contact metres: Scotland 100-21 Wales
    • Defenders beaten: Scotland 7-2 Wales
    • Clean breaks: Scotland 5-1 Wales

But the main statistic is on the scoreboard.

Wales are chasing this game and turn to their bench with the introductions of Abbie Fleming and Carys Cox.

They have the nudge up front but do they need to be more expansive than that?

Scotland couldn't have asked for a better start to the second-half!

It's the ability of the backs to get the ball into the hands, and creating problems for Wales' backline.

You give Fran McGhie a one-on-one like that and it's always going to end in a try.

Neither set of players were rushing down the tunnel for the team talks, and how contrasting they must have been.

Bryan Easson will be delighted with the way his side have come out and dominated the collision area, while Sean Lynn will no doubt have some serious words with his troops.

But Wales showed in the first Test against Australia, they can respond and arguably they have the better impact players on their bench.

How long before we see the likes of Sisilia Tuipulotu and Georgia Evans?
